Fraser Island

Fraser Island is the largest sand barrier island in the world! We took a tour from Hervey Bay on a four wheel drive bus. We could have rented our own four wheel drive vehicle, but it was a good job we opted for the bus because the roads were all sand tracks and some of them were extremely deep and soft.

Check out the deep sand!
Four wheeling in a bus!

After driving across the island we arrived at 76 Mile Beach. The beach is massive! We were lucky enough to spot some dingoes as we sped along the shore.

It goes on forever!
A skittish dingo pup on the beach.

We made a stop at Eli Creek. We hiked up the boardwalk and walked back through the stream.

The end of the boardwalk and into the creek.
It's shallow here, but it gets deeper!

As we left Fraser Island, we watched dolphins playing in the water near the beach and spotted a large loggerhead turtle swimming out to sea.

A 45 minute ferry ride back to the mainland.

It was another amazing day, one of the last on the coast. Next we head west towards the interior.
