Melbourne to Canberra

Good-bye, Tasmania. Back to the mainland. We flew from Hobart to Melbourne, picked up our next car at the airport and slowly made our way to Sydney. We stopped off at Raymond Island to do some Koala spotting. It's a 5 minute walk-on ferry ride to the island and we wandered around looking up into the eucalyptus trees. It was a lovely warm sunny day and the trees have a really nice aroma. We managed to spot quite a few koalas. It was cool to see them in their natural habitat.

They sleep 18 hours a day. The rest of the time they munch on eucalyptus leaves, poop and, as Mal pointed out, there is probably some time for mating rituals. This one is having a good scratch.

I reckon their main job in life is to look cute and pose for the tourists. This little guy is doing a fabulous job.

The next day we stopped at Conran National Park to take a walk on this amazing beach. A little windy but a beautiful day. We had the whole beach to ourselves.

One more day's driving and we will arrive in the capital city - Canberra.
